Why we created Beyond the Art

Adam explains why we're running the day and who it's for.

Enquiries dried up? Bookings down on last year? And you've no idea how to fix it?

Most photographers, videographers and content creators spend years mastering their art and neglect the business side that pays for it. That gap could be what's holding you back, not your skill behind the camera.

What you'll get

Why couples book one photographer over another.

How to charge more, spend less and keep more of what you earn.

More enquiries from search, social, referrals and your website.

What this isn't

No gear talk. Nobody cares which lens you use.

No finding your "why". You already know why. You need bookings.

No shooting and no camera needed. It's a business day.

We're not educators who shoot a few weddings a year. We're both full-time wedding photographers, still shooting and fully booked every year, and we'll show you exactly how we do it.

Martin Cheung

Martin has been photographing weddings for over 12 years. He limits his weddings to 45 per year. He prefers to stick around the Nottinghamshire area because "...I hate driving".

Behind the camera he's a self-confessed business nerd who loves nothing more than poring over the stats in his spreadsheets and shaving minutes off every part of his workflow. Alongside a busy wedding photography business, he hosts the popular podcast Wedding Photography Unveiled and runs Wedsite Wizards, a website design and hosting business for wedding suppliers. This year he also created FastCull, an app built to help wedding photographers cull faster.

Decades in IT taught him what actually makes a website work. He can't resist trying new ideas, and his own business is where every one of them gets tested first. He'll show you what worked and what was a waste of time.

Adam Lowndes

Adam has been photographing weddings since 2010. If you know the name, it's probably from social media. His organic content has pulled in millions of views and a steady stream of enquiries and bookings, all without paying for reach.

He'll travel anywhere for a wedding but prefers to stay close to home in Staffordshire with his wife and daughter. For Adam, a strong business isn't about working more. It's what pays properly and buys back the freedom that drew him to wedding photography in the first place.

He's run his own workshops for years and has spoken at industry events including Elevate and NineDots.
